Pat's Knee...Continued

We are still dealing with Pat's knee issues. On November 24th, the doctor sowed his knee up again. This is what it looked like after the surgery. The white things are not marshmallows, but pads so the heavy duty stitches wouldn't tear through the skin again. That was the hope anyway. The wound started opening up again & we finally got a consult with the wound care center on December 16th. Pat was in the shower on December 15th & called me into the bathroom. He told me he had pulled a piece of wood out of his leg. I told him he was crazy; i mean, 2 doctors had looked INTO his leg 5 times! I put the small chunk of wood on the frig & went on.
Ryan was throwing up so his parents took him to the wound care center on the 16th. They were there for 3 hours & his mother called me to say they had pulled 3 more pieces of wood out of his leg. We were all shocked. See picture below.

This is his leg after the wood & stitches had been removed. There was a small section in the middle that had healed, but the rest was an open wound. They measured it & took pictures. This picture was taken 12-24-10. The dr. said he needed to start hyperbaric treatment to heal the wound.

12-28-10. Looking better. The top wound is getting smaller & it is less red all over. Hopefully he will be back to work before long.
